Police, military adopt stricter security measures for riding public in NoCot

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Due to the recent bus burning incident, the police and military authorities have adopted tighter security measures for the riding public in the Overland Terminal here.

This was disclosed by Cotabato Deputy Provincial Director Lt. Col. Bernard Tayong in an interview with Newsline Philippines after the incident last week where a passenger bus belonging to the Yellow Bus Line, Inc. was set on fire in Barangay Bialong, Mlang, North Cotabato.

Tayong said they instructed the policemen manning bus terminals that apart from checking compliance with the health protocols by passengers, they should also be vigilant on potential threats of improvised explosive devices (IED) by checking their luggage and identification cards as well as to see to it that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the terminals are functioning.

“We also do not allow disembarking and unloading of passengers except in the terminals,” Tayong said.

Tayong said there is a need to revisit their earlier instruction to the bus company that dropping off and picking up passengers will only be in the terminals.

He called on the riding public to cooperate with the police and the military. – Newsline.ph
