MANILA (November 16) – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is keeping a close watch on the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) mass demonstration, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Acting Secretary Dave Gomez said Sunday.

“Yes, the President is monitoring today,” Gomez told reporters as thousands of INC members and supporters began their three-day rally at Rizal Park. As of 11 a.m., the Manila City government estimated 27,000 participants, with organizers expecting the crowd to grow ahead of the 4 p.m. program at Quirino Grandstand.

The INC calls the peaceful assembly the “Rally for Transparency and a Better Democracy.” Meanwhile, other groups held gatherings at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City, even as government agencies continue investigating alleged multibillion-peso irregularities in flood-control projects.
