BASILAN – The Joint Task Force Basilan, in collaboration with the Nagdilaab Foundation Inc. and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development of Basilan, conducted a one-day profiling session for forty-eight (48) former violent extremists (FVEs).

The purpose of the profiling was to determine their eligibility for the assistance package provided by the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.

These 48 FVEs, who are set to be enrolled in the second batch of the ECLIP, had the opportunity to identify potential businesses that align with their skills and are needed in their respective localities.

ECLIP is a community-based program that aims to facilitate the reintegration of individuals who have been involved in violent extremism. It offers a range of services to assist the FVEs in building new lives and connections within their communities, including counseling, mentoring, livelihood programs, and job training.

Ltc Abel O Potutan Gsc (Inf) Pa, Officer-In-Charge of the 101st Brigade, emphasized the importance of understanding the process of radicalization and the experiences of individuals who have engaged in extremist activities. By comprehending these factors, the government can effectively address the root causes of violent extremism and protect others from being lured into these senseless ideologies.

The implementation of ECLIP in Basilan is dedicated to working closely with community members, local government units, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations to promote peace, understanding, and integration. The program firmly believes that by building strong and resilient communities, it can prevent the spread of violent extremism and foster a more peaceful and inclusive society. – Task Force Basilan
