DAVAO CITY--The beleaguered church leader Apollo Quiboloy is just hiding in the sprawling property in the mountains of Tamayong, the so-called glory mountain in the hinterlands of Davao City, said former president Rodrigo Duterte in the late night press conference here.
Duterte even joked that he had a diner with Quiboloy earlier but Newsline Philippines witnessed Duterte eating loads of food after the late night media conference, which disproved his claim he has a diner and was with the fugitive leader earlier, as he arrived so fresh and appeared to have just woke up from a good slumber.
“If you cannot get fair deal with this administration, eh, huwag kang lumabas sa bahay na yan. Nandyan lang yan sa Tamayong. A lam mo ganito yan. Let me educate all of you. Ang Tamayong at napakalaki nyan, make sure na sa isang bahay nandyan sya. For every bahay at dapat meron kayong different search warrant.”
(If you cannot get a fair deal with this administration, do not get out of that house. He is just in Tamayong, you know it is like this, let me educate all of you. Tamayong is a vast property, make sure that he is inside a house. For every house you need a different search warrant)
According to Duterte, Tamayong is Quiboloy’s refuge. He doesn’t have any house, the Kingdom Compound.
The glory mountain sits within the 21-hectare property of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Earlier on Duterte was designated the administrator of Quiboloy’s property and the Barangay Captain of the place is Cresente Canada, who was arrested last week but was given temporary freedom after he put up P80,000 bail for the child abuse case pending in the sala of Judge Dante Bagiuo.
On April 10, the joint operatives from the National Bureau of Investigation, Office of the Senate’s Sergeant-at-Arms and the Philippine National Police went to the area but went home empty handed.
On the possibility that Quiboloy will facilitate his surrender, Duterte laughingly answered ““No, hindi ko siya tatanggapin. Hindi naman ako authority. Pastor, ikaw naman ang wanted. Huwag mo naman akong damayin dito.”
(No, I won’t accept him. I am not an authority. You’re (referring to Quiboloy) the one wanted here, please spare me).
The former president said he is not sure if the claim of Quiboloy that he will be assassinated if he comes out is “Hindi ko alam (I don’t know).
But Duterte admitted he advised Quiboloy that as long as he won’t get a fair deal, he must go on hiding.
Yesterday, a regional trial court another in Pasig ordered Quiboloy and several of his associates arrested in connection with a qualified human trafficking case, a nonbailable offense.
