DAVAO CITY — Alcoholic drinkers rushed to various malls and shops on Friday as the city reimposes a liquor ban starting November 2 until December 30, 2020.

But Davao City is not alone, Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David Uy also ordered a 24/7 liquor ban starting November 2.

Duterte-Carpio will re-impose Executive Order No. 29, Series of 2020 at 12:01 on the morning of November 2.

Among those who panicked is Marvhen Abasta, a construction worker, he bought four bottles of hard liquor, “I need to store for Christmas and New Year celebration, having drinks to celebrate these occasion has been part of our tradition”.

He said he does not intend to violate any law, as he plans to drink it on November 2, December 25, and December 31. People had the chance to store their favorites since it is payday.

Police records, however, show hundreds were arrested violating the liquor ban when the same was imposed when the city was under the Enhance Community Quarantine status until it was lifted on September 21.

The ban is an opportune time for unscrupulous business establishments to sell at doubled prices, yet many still avail of the liquor items.-Newsline.ph
