Sandiganbayan orders ex-Mayor and Treasurer to pay P3K

DAVAO CITY (May 29) — The Sandiganbayan convicted former mayor Rolen Urriquia and municipal treasurer Eva Mendoza, both from Rizal, Laguna, for failure to account the cash they withdraw from the municipal fund.

Investigation disclosed that from 18 to 31 March 2010, Urriquia and Mendoza caused the unauthorized withdrawals from the municipality’s authorized depository bank totalling P317,415.35 without any supporting documents.

During their re-arraignment, the accused, assisted by counsel, manifested their intention to change their plea from “not guilty” to “guilty.”

They were sentenced to each pay a total fine of P3,000.00.-NewsLine.ph
