DAVAO CITY (May 19) – The Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) has assured that senior citizens holding OSCA IDs issued in 2022 or earlier are still eligible to receive financial assistance this year.

While seniors are encouraged to update their IDs, OSCA Head Lorenzo Borja clarified that those who haven’t done so will not be disqualified from this year’s subsidy, as long as they hold a valid OSCA ID.

The cut-off date for subsidy registration is May 31. Seniors who turn 60 after this date (e.g., June 2025) will only qualify for the 2026 subsidy.

To make the updating process more accessible, OSCA is coordinating with barangays, People’s Organizations, and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to reach elderly citizens unable to visit the office.

CSWDO Head Julie Dayaday emphasized that the ID updating is part of efforts to unify the city’s senior citizen master list, addressing past inconsistencies caused by separate agency records.

“Previously, membership in senior associations automatically placed individuals on the master list, but the data was fragmented. OSCA is now working on a more accurate, data-based system to ensure all eligible seniors are included,” she said.
