Summer starts with kite flying contest in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY —Summer has officially kicked off here with dozens of colorful kites joining the Kite Flying Contest on Saturday held at Paseo del Mar.

The kite flying is one of the activities in the ongoing Summer Verano Festival sponsored by the city government and spearheaded by the City tourism Office.

Residents and local tourists enjoyed watching over a dozen of kites flying at the skylines of the promenade.

The entries include colorful shapes and designs such as planes, vinta (boat) birds, snakes among others.

The first prize for the plain category was awarded to Jerome Espiritu; followed by Glenn Saavedra and third went to Shemin F. Lozano.

The Smallest Kite was : Carlo Cabudol while the Largest Flying Kite award went to Glenn Saavedra; the Most Colorful Flying Kite was awarded to Catrine De Azis while the most creative flying kite award went to Shemin F. Lozano.

Glenn Saavdera won the 3D kite category.-Rodolfo Tubilag Jr.
