DAVAO CITY — With the recent case involving a fish vendor in Tagum City, the city government will introduce measures to further tighten measures to prevent coronavirus disease infection.

Mayor Allan L. Rellon in an interview with Newsline.ph said “We will review our existing health protocol and will re-implement the one-entrance-one-exit policy and this time, it must be strictly observed.

Tagum City has been known to implement measures to protect residents from Covid-19 infection, among those is the implementation of the QR system to monitor all persons entering and leaving the city for easy contract tracing.

The city government was also the first to establish a 24/7 monitoring area and a digital-based system in tracking cases and an established monitoring system.

Residents of Tagum City received their food rations during the ECQ at their doorstep and everyone cooperated with the effort of the city government.

Rellon often talks to his people via various media platforms to seek cooperation.

The measure with the local government and the provincial government received recognition among top health authorities and the Inter-Agency Task Force.

The transparency of the city government is handling Coronavirus disease cases and this mechanism helps in making people aware of what is happening in their communities which in result solicit people’s cooperation and support in the fight against Covid-19.

With its recent case, Rellon said “We need to revisit our protocol because when the quarantine was loosened from Enhanced Community Quarantine to Modified General Community Quarantine, we allowed free entry and exit of people to the market in our previously established areas, but with strict health protocol, now, we need to re-enforce the one-entrance-one-exit, because we cannot let our guards down again, because the problem is just in the air”.

No local transmission of Covid-19 cases in Tagum City so far, as the city government was able to arrest the spread of the virus using its established system.-Editha Z. Caduaya/Newsline.ph
