Task Force Davao requires removal of face masks at entry points

Davao City — The recent spate of terrorist bombings in Jolo last 24 August 2020 has brought heightened alert nationwide, as TF Davao implements additional security measures at all entry points in Davao City to deter or pre-empt any terrorist plan in the city.

In a press statement released by Task Force Davao, it said effective immediately, all travelers and commuters entering Davao City are required to wear a face shield in all TFD checkpoints while undergoing the mandatory security and health checks at the inspection areas.

The statement also noted that “travelers/commuters are required to remove their face mask for 10 seconds for facial recognition/identification prior to entering the thermal and baggage inspection areas.

It also said that travelers & commuters without face shields will be required to proceed to the facial recognition/inspection area with transparent health-protective barriers before they are allowed to remove their face masks.

Meantime, TF Davao Commander Col. Consolito Yecla said an updated gallery of known terrorists will be posted at the inspection areas for public notice.

The statement also said that “female individuals wearing scarves and robe-like dresses due to cultural or religious reasons will be checked at the inspection cubicles for facial recognition by female soldiers to ensure respect for their privacy”.

All persons wearing jackets will be required to remove them from the inspection areas as there will be a “No Jacket beyond this point” signboards placed 50 meters from the approach to the inspection areas.

TF Davao also assured that they will remain vigilant in ensuring the security of Davaoeños even with the current pandemic. Yecla said, “We will not lower our guard against terrorism nor give the terrorists an opportunity to execute their plan”. – Newsline.ph
