Teacher mulcting money for school referral arrested in Kidapawan City

DAVAO CITY — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a teacher in Kidapawan City who allegedly asked for money from every students who want to enroll in a Technical Vocational School.

A report from dxND Radyo Bida Kidapawan City says the unnamed male teacher was arrested along Osmeña, Drive Kidapawan City n Friday inside a food house.

The CIDG report identified the suspect as Jovanny Daven, 30, of Barangay Balite, Magpet, North Cotabato, and a teacher of the Kisante National High School in Makilala town.

Police operatives, led by CIDG, carried out the entrapment after the school administrator of the Kidapawan-based Institute For Motorbikes and Auto Mechanics Incorporated, a technical-vocational school, reported about Daven’s mulcting activities

But, the teacher who claimed innocence of the crime as charged said he was just doing his job as coordinator of the joint delivery voucher program, and the money he was collecting will be spent to repair their school and not for his own pocket.

In a PNA report, Daven said “It was our agreement that every student from the Kisante National High School who availed of the parallel enrollment at the vocational school will pay PHP2,000 each.”

The teacher is now detained at the CIDG Kidapawan office.-Newsline
