TF-Davao Foils Entry of P18-M Shabu to Davao

DAVAO CITY — Personnel of Task Force-Davao foiled the entry of P18-million worth of Shabu to the city Sunday afternoon, June 25 at the Sirawan Checkpoint.

Army Colonel Darren Comia said the personnel manning the Sirawan Checkpoint foiled the entry of the illegal drugs and apprehended two suspects.

The Sirawan checkpoint serves as the entry point of all motorist and passengers coming from Region 12 (SoCSKSarGen) and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Region.

Comia identified the suspects as Crisel Jay Alvarez Lacia, 29 and Antonio Abes Palacios Jr., 30, all residents of Purok 5, Poblacion, New Corella, Davao Del Norte.

Based on the Toril Police report shared to the media, the illegal drugs was placed in a brown envelop hidden under the passenger seats and revealed that two other transparent plastics protuded.

But during an interview, Comia, said the brown envelop was “Actually found hidden under the car’s floor mat just below the passengers seat beside the drivers seat which caused suspicison among personnel to ask the passenger what was was protruding sensing it was unsual which led to the discsovery of one big brown envelop which contained twenty heated sealed plastic envelopes which contained illegal drugs with an estimated value of P18-million.”

Upon learning the incident, Mayor Sebastian Duterte proceeded to the Sirawan checkpoint.

Authorities are now preparing the cases against Lacia and Palacios for violation Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 while the suspects are detained at the Toril Police Precinct.-Paul T. Palacio
