1 of 2 missing Filipino tourists in Phuket found

COTABATO CITY – The remains of one of two Filipinos who were reported missing in Phuket, Thailand on Wednesday was found Friday afternoon, the family here confirmed.

The lifeless body of Noah “Twitt” Ibay II was found by Thai rescue workers not far from the site where he was last seen.

Family members and friends in this city confirmed the recovery of the body of the 40-year-old Ibay.

His companion, Angelo Bien Rafael Cortez, 29, remained missing as of posting.

The two and 11 others, including Lito Cortez, Angelo’s father, were in Phuket for a weeklong vacation.

Cortez, a nurse, and Ibay were not swimming but whiling away beside the beach when hit by big waves. Search and rescue operations were ongoing as of this posting. –PNA
