DAVAO CITY – For the first time since he assumed office in June 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte will deliver his next public address here after a meeting with members of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
In a virtual presser on Monday, Roque said the President will be staying in his hometown for the next few days to hold “official functions”.
The President, according to Roque did not fly to Davao City just to be with his family whom he was with three days last week, but to personally assess the situation in Mindanao.
He has to assess also the situation in Mindanao. In fact, he will also have official functions including reporting to the public and meeting members of the IATF)”.
Roque said members of the IATF-EID will also be flying to Davao City to attend the meeting with Duterte set on Thursday (June 4).
This is the second time Duterte returned to his hometown amid the prevailing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Duterte preferred to stay in Manila when the Enhanced Community Quarantine was implemented to personally supervise the implementation of his orders as recommended by the IATF-EID.-Newsline
