DAVAO CITY – Dengue cases increased in Butuan City during the first seven months of the year.
The city government’s information office in a report published by the Philippine News Agency stated that the city recorded 194 cases compared to 83 cases for the same period last year.
The report marked 133.7 increase.
Of the 194 cases, 82 were classified with no warning signs, 109 were with a warning, while three were regarded as severe dengue cases,” the statement said.
The report identified Barangay Holy Redeemer as the highest with 14 , while 13 cases each were recorded in Barangays Libertad and Villa Kananga, and 10 cases in Ambago.
“Most of the infected residents in the city belonged to the age bracket of one-year-old to 14-years-old,” the CIO said, adding a single fatality was also recorded during the period.
The City Health Office has been calling on residents to clean their surroundings and empty containers and other stagnant waters in canals and drainage where mosquitos lay eggs.
