‘Ursula’ left PH with P3.4-B damage

DAVAO CITY —The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday reported that Typhoon Ursula left the Philippine Area of Responsibility with PHP3,435,725,790 damage to agricultural crops and infrastructure.

As of January 2, NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad said, their official record showed that hard hit regions like Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas suffered huge damage.

Local authorities have yet to fully account and assess the damage as residents have yet to settle in their areas after they evacuated.

The agency also recorded 431,586 damaged houses in same areas. Of the total number 107,035 were totally destroyed while 324,551 were partially damaged. 

The typhoon struck the central Philippines last Christmas has killed at least 21 people.

Typhoon Ursula (international name Phanfone) hit the Philippines with winds of up to 120 kph and gusts of 150 kph, bringing heavy rain and flooding.-NewsLine with PNA report
