DAVAO CITY — The one-page document announcing the expulsion of Davao del Norte Governor De Carlo Uy, Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy, Davao De Oro Vice Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy, and Davao de Oro representative Maricar Zamora from Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), was legitimate.

“Official document ng gi-release” as he said “Why will HNP destroy its image by fabricating stories, the fact that the announcement was written through the official letterhead of HNP, says it all,” Newsline source said.

The HNP is a regional party established by then Mayor and now Vice President Sara Duterte in 2018 and was accredited by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Speculations about the legitimacy of the HNP rejection of the Uy’s and Zamora cropped up as Vice Governor Uy in a statement on April 16 stated “I was not formally informed of this decision. The news about my expulsion was only heard from the press, and I await formalities and documents to gain a clearer understanding of the situation.”

Uy’s statement added, “My foremost commitment has always been to serve the people of Davao del Norte, despite the potential political implications of this expulsion, rest assured that my focus firmly remains on our community’s welfare.”

The source added “If they doubt it, then it is their choice.”

The expulsion of the Uy’s and Zamora was released days after the prayer rally in Tagum City which was hosted by Hugpong ng Maisug where former president Rodrigo Duterte and Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste Duterte were in attendance and speaker.
