For decades, the Davao City Water has been categorized as the world’s second best water, that is a fact.
But if you ask me, can Davao City Water District still provide enough water for every household connected to their pipelines now? I frown and I’m gonna tell you straight—No! Not Anymore, in many areas water is the most expensive commodity.
Which is tantamount to saying to wait for the water until it becomes available.
I wouldn’t say the Davao City Water District people lie everytime they say we have enough water- because the fact before my eyes remains—Cabantian in the second district and some parts so my own barangay does not have 24/7 supply of water.
I am sick and tired of looking at residents of barangay Langub going to their relatives to fetch water day in-day-out. I can feel their burden of carrying canisters and containers everytime their faucets does have a drop of water, a reality for them.
Though the water firm sends a fire truck to satisfy their thirst-it remains temporary as it does not come eveytime water is scare and the next time they text DCWD to report, they got the same answer-it is either busted or low power pressure.
Not only that, our village if very close to what DCWD calls one of their water source- the Tugbok sump- but residents in SANAI Village have long been snatched of availing a water supply. would you blame me if is say someone is lying without blinking an eye?
Hundreds if not thousand of residents remain sleepless each night, waiting for the much awaited supply until wee hours for a droplet to come, yet, the water agency claim to be efficient? may I just ask? in what way?. what do you mean by being efficient?
If you call it efficient, then May I ask? is efficiency and insufficiency synonym now?
The water firm which is supposedly a quasi-judicial agency- failed to give an accurate, data-based information to their consumers.
They can never deny request from subdivision developers as they always certify the availability of water supply.
From one interruption to the other, the lame excuse has always been and will always be low pressure area.
To save their faces in the midst of the water shortage, the DCWD often points out to the upcoming completion of the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWSP).
No less than DCWD spokesperson Jovana Cresta Duhaylungsod told members of the press last week that once the DCBWSP project becomes fully operational, not all parts of the city will be serviced by it.
But she did not reveal how many of the city’s household with water connection gets a 24/7 supply or should it be safe to assume that as it is now only 70 percent of their water consumers get enough supply?
The P12-billion DCBWSP will tap the Tamugan River as a major water source for the system and is estimated to supply 300 to 345 million liters of water per day. It is a joint project of DCWD and the Apo Agua Infrastructura.
She said areas that won’t be included in the project are on the side of Toril District including Lubugan, Binugao, Toril Proper, and Sirawan. Their water source will still be groundwater.
Granting without arguing that the above mentioned areas still have enough groundwater supply, it is but imperative for DCWD to tell us- their consumers the real state of the DCWD and the Davao water supply.
Until then, the residents can find their own means of having 24/7 water back home by any means necessary.
