Whirlwind destroys Tacloban City airport

DAVAO CITY — A whirlwind destroyed many partitions of Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport or Tacloban City Airport at around 6:30 in the evening on Monday, April 5.

Sources from Tacloban said the incident happened an hour after the last flight took off from the airport.

Photos circulating in various Facebook accounts and on Tacloban Airport page showed that rood, and several partitions of the airport building were destroyed while parked motorbikes crashed to the ground due to strong winds.

Members of the Tacloban City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection immediately proceeded to the airport to assess the situation.
