DAVAO CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed widening works along a one-kilometer stretch of the Liloy-Siocon Road in Gutalac, Zamboanga del Norte. This significant infrastructure improvement aims to enhance mobility and connectivity within the region.

DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia announced that the newly completed project greatly improves access between Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Isidro, directly benefiting approximately 3,257 residents who depend on this route for travel to neighboring communities and essential services.

The enhanced road section is designed to accommodate a higher volume of vehicles, which is expected to alleviate traffic congestion. This will facilitate the faster transportation of goods and services, thereby stimulating local commerce and fostering economic growth throughout the municipality.

In addition to expanding the road from two to four lanes, the project includes the installation of reinforced concrete pipe culverts, headwalls, and grouted riprap. Reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings have also been painted along the road to improve visibility and ensure safer travel conditions, particularly during nighttime.

The DPWH Zamboanga del Norte 3rd District Engineering Office implemented the road widening project with a total budget allocation of P34.3 million from the 2023 General Appropriations Act.

This investment not only enhances infrastructure but also reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for residents in the region.
