ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city’s active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have increased to 78 as the local health office recorded seven new infections on Thursday.

In an update, the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Covid-19 said the new cases brought the total tally here to 260 since March.

The laboratory test results of the seven new cases were released Wednesday night, the local IATF said, noting that of the seven, two were from the community, one was a locally stranded individual (LSI), and four were former persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

It said the four former PDLs – identified as Patients ZC254, ZC255, ZC256, and ZC260 – are in an isolation facility of the Zamboanga City Special Ecozone and Freeport Authority in Barangay Talisayan here before their integration to the community.

Meanwhile, the LSI or Patient ZC257 is a 30-year-old woman who came from Manila and arrived in the city on July 2. She is asymptomatic.

Patient ZC258 is a 58-year old woman from Barangay Tetuan, who has been admitted to the government-owned Zamboanga City Medical Center for fever and cough. She suffers from a chronic kidney disease and has been undergoing hemodialysis.

Patient ZC259 is a 27-year-old woman from Barangay Zambowood, who is staying at the Lantaka isolation facility.

The task force said of the 260 cases, the local health office has recorded 174 recoveries and eight deaths. -PNA
