South Cotabato, Mindanao — Fire of still unknown origin gutted the old public market building of Surallah, along Surallah-Marbel Highway, Saturday dawn, February 3, 2018.
The fire which lasted for three hours razed to the ground stalls and goods which accounts to P10-million damage.
Firefighters from nearby towns came to save the establishments nearby as fire spread like a wide fire.
The firefighters secured the area as it is just a stone’s throw away from Surallah Municipal Hall.
Residents and stall owners were scared the fire might reach the nearby stalls with liquefied petroleum gases (LPG).
Surallah Municipal Mayor Antonio Bendita, who went to the scene thanked the firefighters whom he said “Worked hard to contain the fire and prevent it from further spreading.”
Surallah Acting Fire Marshall SINSP Leilani L. Bangelis declared fire out at 5:10 in the morning.
The investigation is still on going as to the cause of fire which started at around 2:20 am, February 3,2018.
