125 students faint during the Magnitude 4.7 quake in Davao City

DAVAO CITY — Some 125 public schools from various public schools here fainted as magnitude 4.7 quake hit the city on Wednesday afternoon.

Franz Irag, spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense XI said, of the 125, 37 were sent to a hospital while 88 were treated in the shool clinics. Those sent to the hospital have been discharged.

As of late Thursday afternoon, Irag said, based on the assessment conducted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Engineer’s Office and the Department of Education, eight (8) public school buildings have shown cracks from the floor to ceiling while 11 houses were partially damaged.

Due to the cracks, the school principals opted that learners from the following schools namely: Mintal Comprehensive National High School, Vinzons Elementary School , Matina Biao ES, Maria Cristina Agricultural High School, Tagakpan ES, Tugbok ES , Wangan ES, temporarily undertake the blended method of learning while the the assessment is still ongoing.
