17 cop trainees who survived COVID-19 donate plasma

DAVAO CITY — Seventeen police trainees who survived the deadly coronavirus-19 pandemic donated their convalescent plasma to help those critically-ill patients.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Training Service) director, Brig. Gen. Alex Sintin in a statement said the 17 police trainees of the Regional Special Training Unit (RSTU) 3 have fully recovered from COVID-19.

On July 29 to 30, six bags of 3000cc of plasma were extracted from the survivors at the Jose B. Lingad Hospital in San Fernando City, Pampanga, the statement revealed.

On August 4 and 5, another set of the donation was provided, this time it reached 11 bags or 5400cc of convalescent plasma from 11 police trainees held at the Philippine Red Cross-National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila.

The initiative was in collaboration with the RSTU 3 Advisory Council, Philippine Red Cross, National Action Plan Against Covid-19, Clark Development Corporation.

Health experts earlier said the plasma from recovered Covid-19 patients has been proven to improve the condition of patients who are in critical condition. -Newsline.ph.
