DAVAO CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI has already disbursed ₱288,990,185 to 17,124 out of 36,270 beneficiaries in five (5) municipalities of Davao del Sur under its Comprehensive Aid to Repair Earthquake Damage (CARED) program as of November 22.

The program consists of two components – the Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) and the Cash-for-Work. The ESA is intended to finance the purchase of materials intended to repair or rebuild their houses, while the Cash-for-Work is earmarked for the temporary employment of the homeowners for the actual repair of the damaged houses.

Of the total beneficiaries paid out, 4,297 beneficiaries were categorized as having totally damaged houses that received ₱30,000 and ₱2,970 respectively, while 12,827 beneficiaries were categorized as having partially damaged houses that received ₱10,000 and ₱1,485 respectively.

CARED is one of the interventions by DSWD to help the survivors of the series of earthquakes last 2019 to recover from such incident, aside from the provision of relief items and other social protection programs while they are inside the evacuation camps.

DSWD XI intends to implement the program and finish the same before the end of calendar year 2021. Aside from Davao Region, CARED will also be implemented in Region XII.
