Digital Substation in the North. In 2022, Davao Light started building its new digital substation in Panabo City. With an upgraded capacity of 33MVA, the Gredu Substation will be able to cater to growing demand in the electric utility’s Davao del Norte franchise areas. To date, the substation is at 96% completion.

DAVAO CITY, Philippines ––In September 1994, Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) established its Panabo Branch with a vision to enhance service in the northern part of its franchise area. Fast forward three decades, and this branch has become a vital force in powering progress across Davao del Norte, including Panabo City and the municipalities of Carmen, Braulio E. Dujali, and Sto. Tomas.

The Panabo Branch has been instrumental in fueling economic growth and improving quality of life through its reliable power supply. Its support has been crucial for both large-scale agricultural enterprises and small to medium-sized businesses, fostering development in various sectors.

To meet the ever-growing demand and support ongoing regional expansion, Davao Light is in the process of constructing a new digital substation. The Gredu Substation, with an upgraded capacity of 33 MVA, will play a pivotal role in bolstering residential, commercial, and industrial growth in the area.

Arnel Bersabe, Head of the Panabo Branch, emphasizes the company’s forward-looking approach: “Davao Light will continue to upgrade its substations with new technology and build a robust network to provide the needed capacity in our franchise area. This will bring our customers adequate and reliable power and quality service. We hope to live by our purpose of empowering the evolution of our communities.”

As the Panabo Branch of Davao Light, an AboitizPower subsidiary, celebrates this significant milestone, it looks back with pride and forward with a renewed commitment to delivering reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable power for the next thirty years and beyond.
