6 passengers injured in bus-truck collision in Marilog District, Davao City

DAVAO CITY – In a recent incident in Marilog District, Davao City, a bus and a wing van truck collided, resulting in injuries to six passengers. The incident was captured in a post by Jeep Iroy on social media, showing the aftermath of the collision.

According to the report from Marilog Police Station, the bus, registered under Rural Transit Mindanao Inc., was traveling from Cagayan de Oro City to Davao City Overland Transport Terminal. Meanwhile, the wing van truck, loaded with 500 sacks of fertilizer, was heading towards Bukidnon.

Upon reaching a curve on the Davao-Bukidnon Highway, specifically in Purok 12, Barangay Buda, Marilog District, Davao City, the bus collided with the truck, causing the bus to fall into a canal. Six passengers on board the bus were injured as a result of the collision.

The bus had a total of 22 passengers on board. The individuals identified as being injured in the collision are as follows:

Alwaleed Guro, 16 years old
Alnaisah Guro, 24 years old, residents of 25-C, Poblacion, Davao City
Linelda Blancia, 53 years old
Gee Blancia, 19 years old
Gregorio Blancia, 57 years old, from Dipolo Molave, Zamboanga del Sur
Webster Ayunar Manuel, the bus driver, 58 years old, from Libertad, Quezon, Bukidnon
The injured passengers were promptly attended to and transported by the rescue team from 911 to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for medical treatment.

Other Davao journalists who were traveling on the bus to attend the National Schools Press Conference in Cagayan de Oro City were also present during the incident.

Medical technicians from 911 provided immediate assistance to the remaining passengers and decided against transferring them to SPMC for further medical attention.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine liability and any potential violations of road safety regulations.
