DAVAO CITY (February 12) — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recommended the filing of a deportation case against Jiale Zhang, the Chinese national who threw ‘taho’ at Police Officer 1 William Cristobal last Saturday.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente expressed dismay towards the incident which showed disrespect to the country.

Morente said the act of Zhang showed “An utter display of disobedience and arrogance against a person of authority. The Bureau will not tolerate such acts, as this shows disrespect to the country.”

Dana Krizia Sandoval, spokesperson of the Immigration revealed “Our legal team saw that there was probable cause to file a deportation case against her. The BI can file a case motu proprio, especially since there are photos showing what happened.”

Sandoval said once the deportation charge is approved, Zhang will automatically be placed in the bureau’s watch list.

Zhang arrived in the country in October 2018 with a Special Resident Retiree’s Visa.

Last Saturday, Zhang went viral on social media after she threw ‘taho’ at Cristobal, who stopped her from entering the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) station in Boni Ave. in Mandaluyong City.

The lady ignored the ban on bringing in of liquid items inside the train station as a security measure, instead she threw her ‘taho’ at the policeman who explained the order.

Zhang was arrested but was later released, she apologized for her act, saying she was just in bad mood that day, but authorities view it as a flimsy alibi.

Nitizens took the social media to criticize Zhang who viewed her act as rude and disrespectful to authorities.-ezc/newsline.ph
