KIDAPAWAN CITY – Mayor Joseph Evangelista solemnized the union of five couples here in a “Masked Wedding” as all parties in attendance wear masks and observed the physical distancing set by the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Instead of the usual “kiss the Bride”, Evangelista asked the couple to do a flying kiss for the bride because of the prohibition set by health authorities.

The ceremony was held in front of City Hall here Wednesday.

The city is under general community quarantine status due to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The mayor reminded the couple that they have entered into a “lifetime contract” that must not be breached by either party after they signed the document legalizing their marriage.

The couples are identified as Roque Orillanes and Ailyn Madriñan; Eldie Bucio and Ivy Rose Gadat; Lyndon Arombo and Emmalyn Leong; Roel Sibate and Genevieve Mejio; and Nyl John Dano and Shaira Magallanes. They are all residents of the city.

“Safe physical distancing, wearing of face masks and washing of hands using alcohol, soap, and sanitizer were observed before the couples, sponsors and their guests were allowed entry at the venue,” Evangelista said.

After the wedding, the mayor handed each of the pairs an undetermined amount of cash assistance. –Newsline
