Former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr. dies at 93

DAVAO CITY –— Former Senator Ramon Revilla, Sr. died of heart failure on Friday, his son Senator Bong Revilla confirmed.

Jose Acuña Bautista Sr., popularly known as Ramon Revilla Sr.   finished his bachelor’s degree in commerce at the Far Eastern University. 

He was a senior intelligence officer at the Customs Bureau from 1965 to 1972 before he became an award-winning actor, he was also known as “Hari ng Agimat”, among his blockbuster movies include “Nardong Putik”.

He joined Philippine politics in 1992.

Senator Bong Revilla in a Facebook post stated “After 93 full years, our father former Senator Ramon Revilla, Sr. succumbed to heart failure at 5:20 this afternoon. He is now free from physical pain and is in the loving arms of our Creator”.

The Senator added, “Thank you very much for the love and prayers, as we ask for continuous prayers for the eternal repose of his soul.”

Malacañang on Friday offered sympathies following the passing of movie icon and former senator Ramon Revilla Sr. 

“The Palace expresses its deep condolences to the Revilla family for the loss of its patriarch, former senator Ramon Revilla, at age 93,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press statement.-Newsline
