DAVAO CITY — The National Democratic Front Mindanao (NDF-Mindanao) is up in arms against what they described as the extra-judicial killing of Ka Joaquin Jacinto (Alvin Luque), the spokesperson of the group says.

In a statement to the press, the group claimed Luque and his unidentified companion “was murdered” by armed agents of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in a military operation inside a resort in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.

“The CPP and all revolutionary forces are outraged over the extrajudicial killing of Ka Joaquin. We demand Justice for Ka Joaquin!” the group stated.

The group insists that Luque was murdered and he did not put up a fight against the military while he was being served a warrant of arrest.

Ka Joaquin, according to the NDF ” was unarmed and was convalescing. He has detached a few months ago from the main office of the NDF-Mindanao to undergo medical checkups and to recuperate from partial paralysis. A few months ago, he was physically debilitated and could not walk after he underwent intense physical struggles amid heavy enemy operations and counter-guerrilla maneuvers”.

On Thursday, Major Rodolfo S. Cordero spokesperson of the military’s 4th Infantry Division said they went to the resort after receiving reports that Luque was there. He further claimed that they were there to serve the warrant of arrest but Luque noticed their presence and immediately fired upon them prompting the joint operatives to retaliate which resulted in Luque and his companion’s death.

The group wants Luque’s killers punished as they ask for an impartial investigation by an independent body, they even urged the military troops involved in the operation to come out and reveal what they know.

The NDF condoles with the Luque family, colleagues, friends, and comrades-in-arms. He was 51. Newsline.ph
