DAVAO CITY — The United Kingdom-based drug manufacturer AstraZeneca on Friday withdrew its bid to conduct Covid-19 vaccine clinical trial in the Philippines.

Eric Domingo, Director general of the Food and Drug Administration in an interview with CNN Philippines revealed that AstraZeneca notified his agency that they will not push on their bid for clinical trial.

Domingo said the company informed them that they have enough data for the candidate vaccine application to conduct Phase 3 clinical trials in the Philippines.

AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford collaborated to produce the vaccine which they claimed to have 90 percent efficacy.

Though he said, the company can still supply the vaccine in the country once it is approved.

The Philippines has earlier secured 2.6 million vaccines which will be donated by a private company.-Newsline.ph
