CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Standing to his campaign promise, Mayor-elect Rolando Uy is offering tax holidays and condonation of penalties to small businesses including the penalties for tricycle drivers.
The former First District Congressman also said, the city government will offer discount to business establishments who would pay their obligations to the city in advance.
Residents view Uy’s announcement is a big relief to those who have yet to pay their taxes and penalties.
Uy who took his oath on Sunday, reiterated his campaign promise in his inaugural speech that he will talk to the City Council to pass an ordinance that will enable him to condone the penalties and surcharges of business establishments and the small market players.
“I am asking the City Council, we should work together for the benefit of our people, let us forget politics.”
During the campaign, Uy promised to provide tax relief to his people who are still suffering the effects of the economic crisis brought about by the pandemic.
