6 dead, 7 hurt in General Santos City road mishap

DAVAO CITY — Six people were killed while seven others were wounded when a passenger van rammed on 16-wheeler truck wing van and another raptor pick-up truck along the national highway of General Santos City and Koronanal City road, particularly in Barangay Tinagacan at round 4:00 in the afternoon August 4, 2022.

Initial investigation report by the General Santos City Police showed that the passenger van was from Davao City and heading towards General Santos City when one of its rear tires exploded causing the uncontrollable movement of the vehicle and rammed on the wing van and the pick-up from the opposite direction.

Online video about the incident shows, the roof of the passenger van was detached from the chassis while passengers were scattered all over the highway.

Medical teams and rescuers immediately responded to the incident and brought the wounded to the hospital as families of the passengers have started to arrive at the area.

The police authorities has yet to establish the identities of the fatalities and survivors as of press time.
