DAVAO CITY –  The damage incurred by the Feb. 1 magnitude 6 tremor has reached PHP142 million, the Davao de Oro provincial government reported Wednesday.

In a statement, the provincial government said at least PHP79 million damage in infrastructure was recorded while PHP63 million for the healthcare facilities of the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital (DDOPH) in Montevista town.

Based on the data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO), 11 houses were totally damaged while 459 were partially damaged.

At least 245 patients and 56 watchers were also affected by the tremor. A total of 229,647 families or 770,918 individuals from the province were also affected.

As of posting time, the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) team continues to conduct ocular inspections in the towns of Montevista, Compostela and New Bataan, the earthquake’s epicenter.

Currently, the DDOPH is limiting the number of admissions due to the damage sustained during the earthquake in its infrastructure based on the result of structural intensity assessment (SIA).

“The team discussed the result of the assessment of the damage, losses, and immediate needs of the affected communities,” the provincial government said. (PNA)
