Samal passenger vessel accidentally collides with a Japanese warship at Davao port

DAVAO CITY — A passenger ship from Samal Island accidentally collided with the docked Japanese warship at Sasa port around 2:00 in the afternon on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

Passengers narrated, the vessel owned by Mae Wess was about to dock at their private port in Barangay Sasa, but the gustiness of the winds and the strong water current gradually pushed the vessel towards the docked warship which caused panicked among passengers and resulted to the destruction of the roof, no one was hurt.

Ama Chavez, a passenger narrated to Newsline “We were about to dock but the strong surrent slowly pushed our vessel to the Japanese ship, then we heard a loud collision, we know our vessel hit the parked ship.’

The medics of Mae Wess and the Philippine Coast Guard immediately came to the rescue, fortunately, no one was reported hurt.
