DAVAO CITY — The management of the Davao City-owned Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) professionalized the porter services fee as passengers are advised to pay only the prescribed fees based on category.

DCOTT Manager Aisa Usop is urging passengers to abide by its porter service system to mitigate inconvenience and confusion.

The terminal management has posted the official porter service rates displayed inside the terminal and passengers are advised to look at the fees before paying for any porter.

This means, the passengers will pay the porter services based on the price per kilogram.

She also urged passengers to have their luggage weighed before allowing DCOTT porters carry their belongings for them. An industrial weighing scale has been purchased by DCOTT to ensure that service rates are fair for both passengers and porters.

A release from the terminal administration said all porters in the terminal wear a three-digit number that can be used to trace the wearer in DCOTT’s database.

Passengers are encouraged to remember the number of the porter whose services they employ.

Usop also encouraged passengers to pay their porter fees at the terminal’s designated porter service counter manned by “Officer of the Day” chosen from the pool of porters at the DCOTT.

Passengers may also ask for the standard rates at the same counter. She added that the passenger pay at the designated station and not to individual porter, but instead to the officer of the day.

Giving a tip to the porter is at the discretion of the passenger.

Should there be complaints or inquiries, a Public Assistance Counter is just near the station,

Usop said the DCOTT management has taken all avenues to ensure the security and safety of passengers and their belongings. She said passengers must also do their part by remaining well-informed and vigilant. -with CIO report
