Davao Archbishop Capalla laid to rest

DAVAO CITY — Davao ArchDiocese Archbishop Emeritus Fernando R. Capalla D.D was laid to rest this morning on the crypt below the altar of San Pedro Cathedral.

Capalla, 89, died on January 6.

Fourteen bishops from different archdiocese in the country and 21 priests joined in the concelebrated the mass held at the Cathedral.

Capalla used to sit as the President of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines and the convenor of the Bishop-Ulama Conference (BUC) in Mindanao.

Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, said the late bishop was a shepherd who always attend to his flock “He never misses to visit his people.”

Pope Francis is a message read by Monsignor Paul A. Cuison emphasized the life which the late Archbishop devote for the people of God.

Capalla’s sister Gloria died in his hometown in Leon, Iloilo, hours after he breathed his last. He laid to rest on the the 9th day of his demise.
