PH to co-host the 2025 Indo-Pacific Regional Information Sharing Committee Meeting

The Philippine government, represented by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), announced its co-hosting of the 2025 Indo-Pacific Regional Information Sharing (IORIS) Steering Committee meeting. This announcement was made during the 2nd IORIS Steering Committee Meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka, held from 05-07 March 2024.

In collaboration with the European Union (EU) and CRIMARIO, these government agencies will facilitate the event which will highlight efforts to strengthen regional governance within Southeast Asia.

The initiative also seeks to enhance cooperation in maritime surveillance, information exchange, and crisis management using the IORIS Platform; and strengthen the nations’ commitment to addressing common challenges in the Indo-Pacific, including combating illegal activities at sea and ensuring maritime security and navigation safety.

With the Philippines’ co-hosting role, it signifies its commitment to enhancing maritime security and fostering regional cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. Such efforts are crucial for regional prosperity and connectivity.
