DAVAO CITY – Hundreds of individuals  led  by the leaders from the various indigenous communities condemned and denounced the Communist Terrorist Group  – Communist Party of the Philippines and New People’s Army  during simultaneous rallies held in the far-flung barangays of Bukidnon province, Davao del Norte, and Davao City on March 29, 2024.

Barangay officials, peace advocates, Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC) and its tribal warriors, members of the people’s organizations, religious, business, and youth sectors, and the civilian populace rejected the CTG in the four barangays of San Fernando, Bukidnon; Barangay Magwawa, Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte; and Barangay Salapawan, Paquibato District, Davao City.

Likewise, the people burned the CTG Flag and conducted candle lighting in honor of those who were killed and victimized by the CTG’s violence.

Lieutenant Colonel Rowel M Tabas, Commanding Officer of the 89th Infantry (Makatao) Battalion, said, “The people have spoken, with placards they paraded within their vicinity, expressing their sentiments denouncing the 55 years of unjust killings, destruction of properties, extortion, and other lawless activities disturbing the peace in communities.”

Datu Lito Gambay, an IP leader and former NPA supporter, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to 89IB’s unchanging treatment and unwavering efforts after they surrendered to the folds of law. He also emphasized the government’s sincerity through livelihood projects, schools, infrastructures, and buildings to help them start anew.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the 10th Infantry (Agila) Division pledged to strengthen the campaign against the CTG to destroy the remaining Communist NPA Terrorists in Bukidnon province and prevent a resurgence in the Davao Region
