DAVAO CITY — Here’s good news to Filipino nurses and engineers.

Austria is opening its doors for professionals in the hospitality, healthcare, and information technology/engineering sectors.

Secretary Leo Cacdac of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) also announced the opening of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Vienna in the third quarter of the year to support the increasing number of OFWs in Austria and provide guidance to Austrian employers on the legal process of recruiting and deploying Filipino workers.

On May 15, the Philippines through the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Republic of Austria reaffirmed their long-standing friendship and mutual labor cooperation during the kick-off of Philippines-Austria Friendship Week at the DMW Head Office in Mandaluyong City.

On Thursday Cacdac announced that workers in the hospitality sector could earn from P124,000 to P186,000; healthcare sector from P155,000 to P255,000; and IT/engineering sector from P186,000 to P373,000.

Aside from that, they will also have access to healthcare and other social services in Austria. Job opportunities will also be opened up to their kin.

Austria is home to more than 5,000 Filipino migrants, mostly employed in the hospitality, food service, and healthcare sectors.
