KIDAPAWAN CITY — The Artificial Intelligence operated traffic system has been operating in Kidapawan City since Thursday, May 16.
The Smart traffic system is a great help in improving the flow of traffic in the city, according to Mayor Paolo Evangelista.
According to the mayor’s AI technology, the creation of traffic signals is now automatic based on the size of the vehicle passing the road.
The system, according to Evangelista, complies with the standard and real-time, it automatically signals an occupied lane when it detects a traffic build-up.
The AI-assisted system detects real-time data resulting in better traffic management, and optimizes traffic signal timings, route suggestions, and management.
The system will also detect traffic accidents and hazards and ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
AI-assisted traffic lights are placed at Crossing Barracks and Crossing Singao, the established traffic choke points considering the number of motorists who pass through those areas.
But, despite the cutting edge of technology, the members of the Kidapawan Traffic Management Unit can still be seen guarding the side of the road because there are still motorists who are confused—because the traffic system has changed.
