Criminal charges to be filed against Quiboloy’s cuddlers

DAVAO CITY, Philippines —– The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to file obstruction of justice charges against individuals who assisted Apollo Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), in evading arrest.

In a press release on Sunday, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil announced that a thorough investigation is underway to hold those who aided Quiboloy accountable.

“We will not tolerate any form of obstruction of justice. Our investigation aims to identify those who knowingly provided refuge to Quiboloy, and we will ensure they face appropriate legal consequences,” Marbil stated.

Quiboloy, who faces charges of child sexual abuse and qualified human trafficking, surrendered at the KOJC compound in Davao City on September 8, after being given a 24-hour ultimatum by the police. The PNP conducted operations for 16 days before successfully apprehending him.

Marbil emphasized that Quiboloy could not have evaded capture without assistance from close associates, including legal representatives who misled authorities about his whereabouts.

“Obstruction of justice is a serious offense. Those who helped shield Quiboloy from law enforcement will be charged accordingly. The law is clear: No one is above it, and those who assisted Quiboloy will be held accountable,” he said.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), led by Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco, has been assigned to build the case.

Earlier, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos warned that individuals found harboring Quiboloy would face thorough investigation and charges.
