BARMM connects two towns with  a new bridge

November 29, 2023 by Editha Z. Caduaya

COTABATO CITY — The bridge will connect to communities and spur development, this is how Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)  Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim described when he laid the capsule of the   150-meter-long bridge connecting the towns of Pahamudin in Special Geographic Area (SGA) and Kabuntalan in Maguindanao del Norte last week.

The Bangsamoro government allocated P180 million,  for its construction, the project is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2025.

Ebrahim said the bridge is not just a structure but an economic opportunity for the residents since they will have jobs during the construction and people will have good access from their farms to the markets once it is completed.

In his speech, the  Chief Minister emphasized “Ang tulay na ito ay magbubuhos ng mga oportunidad tungo sa pag-unlad ng pamumuhay ng bawat Bangsamoro sa mga lugar na makikinabang dito,” Ebrahim said.

[This bridge will open up so many opportunities for the development of the lives of every Bangsamoro in the areas that will benefit from it.]

The bridge stands as a symbol of the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to stimulate economic activities in the region as it will bind communities together, facilitate trade, reduce travel time, and enhance transportation, he said.

Other key officials who attended the activity included MPW Deputy Minister Abdul Maomit Tomawis, Maguindanao del Norte Governor Abdulraof Macacua, and Northern Kabuntalan Mayor Datu Ramil Dilangalen.

Meanwhile, Minister Guerra, on the other hand, shared that the Pahamudin town in SGA has a P1.4-billion infrastructure project budget for fiscal years 2020-2024, which were distributed to its 12 barangays.

Looking back, Guerra said,  the pplace never had a conmcrete road but the Bangsamoro government has undertaken efforts to construct good roads for the people.
