DAVAO CITY – The Department of Agricluture urged the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas to submit to them a proposal on their request for a P15,000 subsidy for agricultural workers and fisherfolks to cushion the impact of the impending El Niño as projected by PAGASA.

Danilo Ramos of KMP claimed some 13.6 million farmers, fisherfolk, and farm laborers need such support and will benefit the grant should the government listen to their cry.

In an interview with ANC ‘Rundown’ on Friday, Ramos said they are calling on the government to provide production subsidy due to the huge impact of EL Niño on their livelihood and their prpoduction.

In an interview with ANC’s “Headstart” , DA field operations service director said U-Nichols Manalo, urged Ramos to forward to them the plan with a breakdown on their proposal for a subsidy.

Manalo said he cannot comment on the farmers proposal for P15,000 subsidy whether it will be enough or not because the government has yet to receive the documents.

Ramos claimed proposed subsidy breakdown as follows: P5,000 for plowing, P3,000 for the transport and, P7,500 for the labor of 15 persons who will work for a hectare farm which totalled to P15,000.00.
