Davao businessman dies in motorcycle crash

DAVAO CITY — Davaoeños mourn the death of homegrown businessman Philip “Sonny” Dizon, who died in a motorcycle crash in Davao del Sur at around 11:40 in the morning on Sunday, January 7.

Dizon, 64, was president of the American Chamber of Commerce Davao.

The Bansalan police in a report stated, Dizon was driving his Cam-an motorbike and when in arrived at Gumamela St. Barangay -Balutakay Road, Dizon changed lane fearing collision against vehicle from the opposite side. He tried to apply brake but he lost control of his motorbike. Dizon was thrown, causing his body and head to fall on the paved road.

Rescuers brought him to Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital but expired.

Aside from Crocodile Park, Dizon also owned the Mt. Apo Coffee, Apo Highlands Resorts in Kapatagan, Davao del Sur.

Dizon was one of the personalities instrumental in promoting tourism and the beauty of ​​Kapatagan.

The famous Lake Mirror is on his property and he helped to improve the road in the area.
