NABUNTURAN (November 19) —  Davao de Oro has officially launched its new Integrated Referral Information System (DDO-IRIS), giving communities a faster, fully digital way to move patients from barangay health stations to rural health units and provincial hospitals.

The system builds on the province’s earlier DDO E-Referral initiative, developed by the Provincial ICT Office and Provincial Health Office to cut delays in patient navigation and improve accuracy in sharing medical information.

Health workers say the digital shift is especially helpful for women and children, who often require time-sensitive care—from prenatal checkups and safe deliveries to immunizations and emergency treatment for infants.

With real-time referrals, midwives and doctors can prepare earlier, reduce waiting times, and ensure high-risk cases are quickly brought to the right facility.

Governor Raul G. Mabanglo said the project strengthens the province’s commitment to Universal Health Care, noting that digital systems like DDO-IRIS make frontline services more responsive and accessible, particularly for families in far-flung barangays.
