Switch to LED lights. With the recent rate increase, Davao Light encourages customers to practice energy efficiency to help manage electricity bills, especially during the rainy season. With frequent rainy days and overcast skies, indoor lighting is required more than usual. LED lights are a more efficient choice than incandescent bulbs as they consume less energy.

DAVAO CITY (July 18) – Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. has announced an increase in its residential electricity rate for the July 2025 billing period. The rate rose by ₱0.0887 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), bringing the total to ₱8.7772 per kWh from ₱8.6885 last month. This adjustment applies to bills covering July 11 to August 10.

The rate hike is attributed to higher charges from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), where Davao Light sources part of its power supply.

A household consuming 200 kWh using common appliances is expected to see a ₱17.74 increase in its electricity bill.

Davao Light reminds consumers that electricity bills depend on two factors: the current rate and actual power usage. While rates are influenced by market conditions, customers have control over consumption.

To help manage power costs, Davao Light offers the following energy-saving tips, especially during the rainy season:

  • Switch to LED bulbs for more efficient lighting.
  • Allow natural airflow by opening windows during cooler hours.
  • Use electric fans and limit air conditioner use.
  • Operate laundry dryers wisely due to limited sun-drying opportunities.
  • Unplug unused appliances to avoid phantom energy use.

As a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, Davao Light remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and reasonably priced electricity to customers in Davao City, Panabo, and the municipalities of Carmen, Dujali, and Sto. Tomas.
