TAGUM CITY (July 9) — Davao Light and Power Company, Inc. (DLPC) has installed its first electric pole in its newly expanded franchise area, coinciding with the launch of its first Digital Substation and Stockyard/Warehouse Facilities in Tagum City.

DLPC President and Chief Operating Officer Engr. Enriczar Tia shared that this is the company’s first infrastructure project since the passage of Republic Act No. 12144, which authorized DLPC’s expansion into Davao del Norte’s 1st District, including Samal and all towns in Davao de Oro.

“This is a new milestone for us because this is where our 22 MVA substation, warehouse, and pole yard will be built. It marks our first infrastructure in the expanded franchise area,” Engr. Tia said.

Governor Edwin “Kuya Gov” Jubahib welcomed the development, citing its promise of a more affordable and stable power supply and quality services that will improve people’s lives and drive economic growth.

“This site will serve as the backbone of an improved power distribution system that will fuel investments, strengthen industries, and bring electricity to schools, clinics, and homes, especially in underserved communities,” the governor said.

Kuya Gov also encouraged the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORDECO) to cooperate with Davao Light to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition, so residents can soon benefit from DLPC’s services.

2nd District Congressman Juan Manuel Lagdameo described DLPC’s entry as a catalyst for progress and an opportunity to unlock the full potential of local communities.

“It is about igniting the engine of progress and unlocking immense potential for our communities,” he said.

Also present was Anton Mari Perdices, Chief Operating Officer for Distribution Utilities at AboitizPower, who called for stronger partnerships between DLPC, the provincial government, local government units, and all sectors of society.
