DAVAO CITY – Davao Region’s first confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patient has fully recovered and has been discharged from the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.

This was confirmed Monday by Dr. Annabelle Yumang, director of the Department of Health in Davao Region (DOH-11), during a virtual presser where the health official also appealed to the public not to stigmatize recovered Covid-19 patients.

Yumang said PH130 was already sent home to her family in Davao de Oro. The patient, a 21-year old female, from Pantukan town, arrived in the Philippines from the United Kingdom with layover via Doha, Qatar to Manila then to Davao on February 29.

PH130 first sought consultation in a local health facility due to cough and was immediately isolated on March 9, Yumang said. She was transferred and admitted for isolation and testing to a referral hospital last March 10.

Yumang said it was wrong for anyone to stigmatize or spread rumors about Covid-19 patients, adding that neighbors and friends of any patient should instead help the patient ease the trauma wrought by the disease.

“They do not want that to happen and they also have undergone difficult times dealing with the disease. So we need you to understand their situation,” the DOH-11 chief said.

Meanwhile, the Davao de Oro Emergency Operations Center (DDOEOC) said Monday that seven out of nine patients under investigation (PUI) in the province have tested negative for Covid-19.

The PUIs involved have been discharged over the weekend, DDOEOC said. (PNA
